We Are

Oak Creek Assembly of God is now Discover Church

In November of 2022 Oak Creek Assembly of God officially became Discover Church.
This new name will help us open our doors wider to more people who genuinely desire to seek Jesus Christ. We also hope to one day expand to additional campus locations in Wisconsin and beyond.

Discover Church is a vibrant community for people of all backgrounds.
We want to help you understand who Jesus is and walk with you as you find your God-given purpose.

We will always be an Assembly of God church and all our theological foundations will remain the same.
While we will have a new name, we will still be the same church with an opportunity for greater impact.

You can help share the desperately-needed love of Jesus with our city, nation and world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you changing your name now?
The name Discover Church opens our doors wider to people in the community. Our desire is that all will feel welcome, whether it is those from different denominational backgrounds or those with no religious affiliation, yet are spiritually searching. Wherever you are in your faith journey, you are welcome at Discover Church.

In addition, having a name that is not location-specific allows us to establish additional church campuses to share the gospel more directly in nearby communities and around the world.

When and how was this name transition decided?
A church committee was established to explore a name change following a vote and approval at the February 2020 Annual Business Meeting. After much prayer and research, the committee presented their recommendation of Discover Church at the February 2021 Annual Business Meeting. The church membership voted and approved the new name at that meeting.

The theme of Discover has been part of our mission statement for years: Reaching our world for Christ as we lead individuals to DISCOVER and become who God created them to be. The name Discover Church is a continuation and extension of the church’s DNA. We trust God will use this new name to enhance our mission and make an even greater impact.

Are we leaving the Assemblies of God?
No. All our theological foundations will remain the same and we will continue our regional and national affiliations with the Assemblies of God fellowship. The church’s Constitution and Bylaws are structured to ensure it always remains within our denomination.

While we will have a new name, we will still be the same church with opportunity for greater impact.

Are we leaving the city of Oak Creek?
No. Our facilities in Oak Creek will remain with the Assemblies of God fellowship operating under the new name Discover Church. Oak Creek will remain our main campus and will continue to be our home moving forward.

Why are we expanding to other campuses?
Our desire is to bring the gospel directly to more people. Having a non-location specific name creates an opportunity for us to one day establish new locations within the Milwaukee area. Beyond southeast Wisconsin, there may also be future opportunities to provide resources for one of our national or international missionary partners and do ministry together under the same name.
