Many have found Christ and experienced life change through this church. We have been able to minister to the community with outreaches and special productions. We have also been able to share the Gospel with people globally through expansive missions efforts. Our story would not be possible without God’s faithfulness and the hard work of people just like you!

1933
Our story begins in 1933 with the vision of Joseph Wannamaker to see a vibrant growing church in every community of Milwaukee. He, along with several families, started the church in South Milwaukee, WI. On March 1, 1937, the congregation became an organized church and joined the fellowship of the Assemblies of God under the name South Milwaukee Gospel Tabernacle.
1955
On Easter Sunday of 1955, the congregation held their first service at 802 Monroe Avenue in South Milwaukee, WI.
1967
The day after Thanksgiving in 1967, Eileen Dahl, a parishioner of the church, was working her job at Forest Hill Associates when a man came in to list a 9-acre parcel of land on South 13th St. in Oak Creek. Eileen, along with board member Vernon Waldron, persuaded the man to accept $50 as earnest money. The congregation then voted in favor of buying the current church location, 7311 S 13th St., Oak Creek, WI.
1970
On a cold day in December of 1970, the first church building at our current location opened. The church was officially renamed to Oak Creek Assembly of God.
1971
Our heart for missions was ignited with the hosting of our very first missions convention in October of 1971. The missions convention became a yearly event to highlight what God is doing around the world.
1979
In May of 1979, Pastor Jerry Brooks accepted the call to become the new lead pastor of Oak Creek Assembly of God.
1983
The congregation quickly outgrew the building, and by the grace of God, we were able to add 12,000 square feet, which included a new sanctuary, classrooms, nurseries, library and offices. This new expansion opened in May of 1983.
1985
In April of 1985, we sent out our first missions trip to Asuncion, Paraguay to assist the missionaries there build a new church, that is still doing well to this day.
1990
The Lord blessed us with continued growth and on September 30, 1990, we dedicated a new 35,000 square foot addition. This included a new sanctuary, more classrooms, a kitchen and gymnasium.
1994
Starting in December of 1994, live orchestras began to accompany the Musicals and Illustrated Sermons that were presented to reach our world for Christ.
2001
In an effort to accommodate the ever-increasing congregation, the fourth phase was completed in June of 2001. The 82,000 square feet included a new sanctuary, nurseries, expanded gymnasium and kitchen, bookstore, classrooms and offices. This new space was dedicated on November 11, 2001.
2005
We took our services online in February of 2005. These services have reached around the world and we have had viewers on almost every continent and in numerous countries, including China, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Netherlands, Iraq and even military ships at sea.
2011
Our desire is to reach every age and stage of life, so, in July of 2011, we celebrated a new addition that added 54,631 square feet. This addition included a Preschool Area, Elementary Area, Food Court, Commons and Bookstore, along with the remodeling of 10,133 square feet that included the Youth Area.
2022
On November 6, 2022, we become Discover Church! This new name allows us to open our doors wider and brings us closer to opening new campuses in nearby communities. We may have received a new name, but we are still the same church with a greater impact.
